University Management

The University Management is not a statutory organ of the University but is essential in assisting the Vice Chancellor in the day-to-day running of the University. Major decisions and recommendations regarding the University, as well as new initiatives and strategic priorities, are set by the University Management.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) is the Universityโ€™s chief executive officer. As such, the VC is responsible for the smooth running of academic, administrative and financial affairs of the University; and in the absence of the Chancellor presides over ceremonial assemblies of the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor assist the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of his/her functions. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor act in place of the Vice-Chancellor when the office of the Vice-Chancellor is vacant or the Vice-Chancellor is, for any reason (including absence from the precincts of the University) unable to perform his function as Vice-Chancellor.

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative activities of the University. The Registrar serve as the Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation and the custodian of the seal and other legal documents of the University.

The Bursar is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration and control of the financial affairs of the University. This office is responsible for the maintenance of all financial records in the department and a proper accounting system for the University.

The University Librarian be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the library services in university and for any other matters relating to the library.

The Director of Academic Planning is the chief coordinator of all matters pertaining to the academic organization of the University: examinations, curriculum and oversees admissions and academic records of students, as well as staff development.

The Director of Physical Planning and Works is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the proper planning, orderly development and maintenance of physical facilities of the University. He/she also offers support to strategic and operational decision making through collection, analysis and interpretation of institutional and externally sourced data.

The Director of Health Services is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the University Health Centre and ensure the provision of qualified staff, drugs and other facilities are available for adequate health care delivery to staff and students.

Theย Director Quality Assuranceย provides an oversight role to the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Control, so as to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in university activities. As part of continuous quality improvement, the Directorate undertakes a periodic critical self-assessment of the university’s core activities; research and innovations; knowledge transfer partnerships and networking as well as support services.

The Director ICT Support is in charge of the overall management and co-ordination of ICT support systems within the University. As the head of a very specialized unit within the University system, the Director oversees the implementation of all University ICT projects within a coordinated operational plan.

The Director of Student Affairs is appointed by the Vice-Chancellor to coordinate the activities of student accommodation and is responsible for the welfare and discipline of students in the University.
