The SPGS is responsible for the coordination and administration of all postgraduate programmes, ensuring quality, innovation, and compliance with National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmarks

Administration of the School

The School operates under the authority of the Senate and Governing Council of Newgate University Minna, in accordance with the University Law and NUC regulations.

Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies
  1. The Dean is the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the School of Postgraduate Studies. He has overall responsibility for the leadership, coordination, and effective management of postgraduate teaching, research, and administrative functions of the University.
  2. The Dean reports to the Vice-Chancellor and is accountable to Senate, through the Vice-Chancellor, on all matters relating to postgraduate academic affairs.
Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies
  1. The Secretary is the Chief Administrative Officer of the School of Postgraduate Studies and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the School.
  2. The responsibilities of the Secretary shall include the custody and management of records, coordination of meetings of the School and its Committees, preparation and implementation of approved decisions, and the management of official correspondence, in accordance with University statutes and regulations.
Administrative Officers
  1. Administrative Officers in the School provide registry and administrative support services necessary for the effective operation of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
  2. Such services include postgraduate admissions, registration, examinations, student records management, documentation, and general office administration, in line with approved University policies and National Universities Commission (NUC) guidelines.
Departmental Postgraduate Studies Coordinator
  1. The Departmental Postgraduate Studies Coordinators serve as the first-line academic manager for postgraduate students within the Department.
  2. The coordinator shall ensure the effective coordination of postgraduate studies in the Department and shall act as Chair of the Departmental Postgraduate Committee in the absence of the Head of Department, where applicable.
