The University was established to provide high-quality education, equipping students with the acumen to address both local and global challenges in an era where information empowers and where ideas and innovation are the raw materials of the knowledge-based economy.
Over the next decade, the Universityโs foundational strength will serve as a springboard, propelling NUM towards a single goal of becoming Nigeriaโs leading private institution of higher learning: excellence in research, teaching, scholarship, and creativity.
This means, at the very least, recruiting a talented and diverse group of students, ensuring that the University remains accessible and affordable for all and that all can flourish within a culture of trust, respect and belonging;
It means, initiating and putting in place support structures that will enable students graduate on time, and fully prepared to access the job market or start their own businesses in the world beyond university;
It means, recruiting and supporting talented and broadly diverse faculty across all disciplines and providing them with the resources they need to be both outstanding teachers and researchers;
It means, developing partnerships with other institutions and organizations to expand our horizons into new academic disciplines;
It means, taking some risks and not being afraid of failure; and
It also means that we must always keep our eyes on the future, recognizing that it is ours to shape.
