CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

In a bid to facilitate the emergence of sustainable economic development with a view to promote quality higher education and to foster the intellectual, social, and cultural growth that are essential to providing business and entrepreneurial leadership in our diverse environment, the MAIDAKUWA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION wishes to sponsor young Nigerlites to take up available opportunities geared towards the establishment of thriving enterprises in the state under the MAIDAKUWA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (MMSP).

Programme Objectives

The overall goal of the MMSP is to award scholarships to students from all the Local Government Areas of Niger State who have been admitted to a carefully selected academic programmes at the Newgate University Minna. The scholarship shall cover 50% of tuition and all associated fees exclusive of accommodation fees for the duration of the academic programme.

Under the MMSP, scholars will be mentored and launched into the business and corporate entity as entrepreneurs, financial experts, communication specialists and IT professionals. This model will be implemented carefully with Newgate University Minna and all the beneficiaries will be encouraged to own their own businesses on graduation. This will serve as the launch pad for sustainable business reorientation in Niger State and the Nation.

Targeted Number of Beneficiaries

The initial number of scholarship recipients shall be one hundred and twenty fifty (125) ONLY. This number equitably be spread across all the 25 LGAs of Niger State.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration, all applicants shall fulfil the following criteria:

  1. Must be an indigene of Niger state and must be resident in Nigeria.
  2. Must have attended a Secondary Education and passed in the appropriate subject combinations at not more than two sittings in SSCE, NECO or NABTEB examinations.
  3. Be admitted in any of the following undergraduate programmes at Newgate University Minna;
    • Business Administration
    • Human Resource Management
    • Accounting
    • Banking and Finance
    • Mass Communication
    • Information Systems & Technology

Application Deadline

The period of this application STARTS Monday, 24th October, 2022 and closes on Sunday 13th November, 2022.

Please be informed that NO Application will be accepted after the expiration date.

Application Procedures

  1. All applicants must first be admitted to an eligible programme of study at Newgate University Minna in any of the above stated programmes.

Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship

  1. Be admitted to the selected programme of study at Newgate University Minna.
  2. Meet any conditions attached to the scholarship offer such as the ability to pay 50% of the total tuition fee on registration.
  3. Register as a full-time student at Newgate University Minna by the given start date. Scholarships cannot be deferred to the following academic year.
  4. Seek permission and obtain consent from the University before making any changes to their programme of study. This includes changing programme, programme transfer, suspending studies, etc. Where changes are made without prior approval, the scholarship will be withdrawn and students shall be required to pay the programme amount in full.
  5. Seek permission from the University before extending a period of registered study. Scholarships are not automatically extendable.
  6. The scholarship is not available as a cash alternative.
  7. Scholarship recipients must maintain a normal progress grades for the duration of the programme admitted for.
  8. If a student fails to meet satisfactory academic progress standards and consequently lose eligibility for the scholarship, the student may submit a written appeal with supporting documentation for reinstatement of financial aid eligibility if the student had mitigating circumstances.
