Newgate University Minna receive applications for short courses, pre-degree courses, undergraduate diploma, undergraduate degrees, all through the year.
To make sure we consider all applicants thoroughly and fairly, there are several stages to our admissions process. Each one is outlined on this page. It is important you understand your role in each of these stages.

The following are major steps involved in applying for a degree programme at NUM. Please read them carefully before completing and submitting your application form.
Step 1: Find a Programme
- Find and choose the academic programme you would like to study.
- Check the admission requirements, especially specific grades and subject combinations required for your chosen programme before applying.
- Apply early to take advantage of benefits like early admission and access to available scholarships.
Step 2: Apply for Admission
1. Before starting the application, you will need to have:
- PDF copy of your academic credentials such as your O’ level results and/or Diploma certificates (saved as one file).
- A scanned copy of a colored passport photograph taken with a plain white or off-white background. The photo must have a clear image of your face, and no filters.
- Paid the non-refundable N25,000.00 (Twenty-five thousand naira) application fee. This amount must be paid into a designated NUM bank account (the name of the designated bank and account number are displayed on the application form) either through direct cash deposit or Point of Sale System (POS) transfer or through Telegraphic Transfer (TT) or Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). You will be required to upload evidence of payment on the application portal.
2. Ready to apply?
Online Application
- The online application takes about 30 minutes to complete. You may start an application, save it, and return to it any time before submitting.
- Click on the Apply Now on the NUM homepage.
- Create an account to access the online application form.
- Fill out the online application for admission. Make sure you fill all the required fields including the evidence of payment of the application fee.
- Upload the required supporting documents i.e. your academic credentials, passport photograph and evidence of payment.
- Submit your application.
Completing the Hard Copy Form
- Obtain the hard copy application form at any of the designated selling Centers or Agents with evidence of payment of the application fees.
- Return the completely filled application form with the relevant supporting academic documents (academic credentials, passport photograph and evidence of payment.) to the Admissions Office at the City Campus of the University or designated centres or Agents.
- You may also scan and send the application form and supporting documents as attachment to admissions@newgateuniversityminna.edu.ng
- All documents received by the University in connection with an application for admission become the property of NUM. However, material will only be held for a period of only one year if the student notifies the Admissions Office in writing of postponement of enrollment.
Step 3: After you Apply
- After submitting your online or offline application, you will be notified by email of the successful submission of your application.
- When a decision has been made regarding your application, you will be notified as soon as possible (usually takes about 5 working days).
- You may be invited for an online or in-person interview before you are offered a provisional admission letter if your application was successful.

Step 4: Offer of provisional Admission to NUM
- If you fulfill all the admission requirements for the programme of study applied for, you will be offered a provisional admission to NUM.
- Provisional admission may also be granted to candidates who at the time of admission do not have original copies of required documents or awaiting results of a particular examination. In such cases, provisional admission will be granted for the first semester of the programme during which all known deficiencies shall be made up.
- If you receive an offer of provisional admission, accept the offer by fulfilling all the conditions contained in your letter of offer within the stipulated time or you may loose your place.
- Provisional admission of any applicant shall be cancelled if he or she fails to submit the original documents within the stipulated time or found to have submitted false documents during the application process.
- Assuming you have met the conditions of your offer of admission, you will join us at NUM for the start of your programme. Not accepting your offer will cause delays in being able to register for courses.
Registration
Registration for the semester is done online using the myNUM portal and in the Academic planning and Faculty offices.
Matriculation
Matriculation confers membership of the University on students in ceremony specifically organize for that purpose. Every new student is required to attend this event.
