We are proud to share that our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sadiq Yusuf, played a pivotal role at the Joint Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA) – Moroccan Association of Neuroscience (MAN) Conference 2025, held at the Conference Center of Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco. The theme of this year’s event was both timely and thought-provoking: “BRAIN and ENVIRONMENT: The Challenge of the Future.”

One of the key highlights of the conference was the launch of the African Brain Journal, a groundbreaking platform for African neuroscientists to publish and share cutting-edge research. This milestone was made possible through the generous support of the Executive Governor of Yobe State.
Prof. Sadiq Yusuf, who currently serves as the Secretary-General of SONA, has been at the forefront of this initiative, championing the journal’s creation. The journal is set to amplify African voices in neuroscience by showcasing innovative research tailored to the continent’s unique context, challenges, and breakthroughs.
The conference served as a vibrant crossroads for scientific exchange, drawing together researchers from across Africa and around the world. It provided a unique opportunity for collaboration across disciplines—from basic to clinical neuroscience—and fostered dialogue between fundamental scientists and clinicians striving to unlock the brain’s most enduring mysteries.

This landmark event not only celebrated African excellence in neuroscience but also set the stage for greater continental and global impact in understanding the brain and its relationship with our ever-changing environment.
