History was made in Niger State as Newgate University Minna hosted it’s first matriculation ceremony on Wednesday, 7th December 2022.
The matriculation ceremony which held at the city campus, Minna at the early hours of Wednesday registered a grand outing and induction of our pioneering students and first ever matriculants.
Accompanied with great ceremonies and festivities, we had the honor of hosting very important and special guests from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Minna Emirate, Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Members of the Board of Trustees among others.
Opening the ceremony with his address, The Vice Chancellor, Prof Yusuf Sadiq expressed his happiness and thanks to the Pioneer and Pro Chancellor Newgate University Minna, Mall. Hassan Nuhu and members of the university staff for the opportunities and their collective efforts in making the NUM dream come true.
He further praised and acknowledged the community support the university has received so far which has helped in no small to the growth of the University.
He also expressed joy as he reported that the matriculation ceremony had a total of 322 students formally admitted into the 13 Bachelor Degree Programs of the University.
Furthering his speech, he noted that our Academic programs are all designed to produce world class graduates with right skills to be key players in the technological and sociological advancement of the host community, Nigeria and beyond.
He also congratulated the students, parents and sponsors for the pivotal roles they have played in the lives of the students and prayed that their investments will not be in vain.
Admonishing the students, he made it clear that Newgate University Minna is a great place where everyone gets to enjoy sufficient freedom, however, students should not forget that where one freedom ends, another’s freedom begins.
He further urged the students to not just protect their rights but to also fulfil their obligations as students of our noble university.
The Emir of Minna HRH Alh. (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago (CON) speaking through his designee also encouraged the students to have faith, read and work hard as the sky is not a limit but a beginning.
The floor was made open for other special guests to give their goodwill messages.
Following behind the remarks of the Pro Chancellor, Mall. Hassan Nuhu, the Vice Chancellor Prof Yusuf Sadiq ended the ceremony with his closing remarks and charge to the students.
It was a beautiful moment of historic ecstasy as the ambiance was filled with a plethora of euphoria following the Vice Chancellor’s reverse order procession and students festivities and jubilation.
A great moment forever engraved in the heart of NUM’s sands of time.
