Newgate University Minna proudly marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its Maiden Convocation Ceremony a day dedicated to celebrating brilliance, resilience, and the emergence of a new generation of global leaders.
A total of 207 graduates received degrees across various faculties, including 14 exceptional students who earned First Class Honours a remarkable demonstration of hard work, discipline, and academic distinction.
One of the major highlights was the presentation of awards to the Best Graduating Students, culminating in the recognition of the Overall Best Graduating Student, who achieved an outstanding CGPA of 4.83. In honor of her exceptional performance, she received:
A fully funded postgraduate scholarship
Automatic employment with the University
A cheque refunding all school fees from 100 level to graduation
Her remarkable achievement serves as a powerful source of inspiration to the entire Newgate University community.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Niger State, who represented His Excellency the Governor and officially commissioned the Newgate University Postgraduate School, named in honor of former Governor Umaru Bago. This commissioning symbolizes the University’s continued growth, expansion, and commitment to academic excellence.
Also in attendance was our esteemed Chancellor, Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama, SAN, whose presence added prestige and honor to the event. The entire management team, invited guests, parents, staff, and students contributed to the elegance and success of this historic occasion.
In his inspiring remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Founder, Malam Hassan Nuhu, outlined a bold vision for the next decade envisioning a university whose graduates lead industries, shape national and global policy, drive innovation, and make meaningful impact across all sectors including science, medicine, business, engineering, and the creative economy.
The Maiden Convocation was more than just a ceremony.
