Governance & Leadership

Newgate University Minna is governed in accordance with the University Law and the regulations of the National Universities Commission.

• Board of Trustees. The highest governing body of the University, charged with the overall policy direction and financing of the University through the Governing Council.
• The Chancellor. Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor is the highest principal officer of the University and takes precedence over all other members. The Chancellor chairs convocation ceremonies and other assemblies held for the conferment of degrees, diplomas, certificates and other awards.
• Governing Council. Chaired by the Pro-Chancellor, the Council is charged with the general control and superintendence of the policies, finance and property of the University, including its public relations.
• Senate. Responsible for all academic matters of the University.
• University Management. Not a statutory organ, but essential in assisting the Vice-Chancellor in the day-to-day running of the University and advising the Governing Council on academic and administrative matters.
